I am in search of people who want to get paid to participate in psychological assessment.
What is this all about?
I help Pearson Assessments in their testing of psychological assessments.

I am recruiting people who would allow me to administer assessments to them while getting paid.
Why should you be interested in being a participant?
In the old days, there was very little representation in research participants (e.g., White, young-to-middle aged, men).

As a result, a lot of psychological tests were using norms (the tables of data that show the scores of an "average" person) that were not really a reflection of all people. That's why it is so important that we do have a wide range of diversity amongst research participants and why Pearson uses psychologists like me who can reach out to our local communities.
You get paid! (Oh, maybe I should have led with that one!) Payment ranges from $25 to $200. The payment level depends on the complexity of the test (e.g., a paper questionnaire that takes 30 minutes versus in-person testing that takes 3 hours) and it also depends on how difficult it is to find people with a certain demographic (e.g., it is easier to find a middle-aged adult who graduated from high school versus a twice-exceptional elementary school student). Also, I do the testing at a facility, like a school, skilled nursing facility, daycare, residential care, etc.; the facility is also paid a small facility fee. After the testing, I will provide the data to Pearson and they will then process the payment, which will be in the form of a Visa gift card.
What types of people are needed?
All ages and all types of demographics between the ages of 0 – 99.
What do the tests involve?
For some of you, I'm sure that the idea of "psychological testing" may bring up some potentially scary ideas, like getting shocked or being forced to eat/smell certain things, but no worries because these tests are nothing like that!

These are usually tools that test intelligence, academic skills, life adaptive skills, and interpersonal functioning. That means that the testing typically involves asking you questions, having you do things like puzzles, or filling out questionnaires. Some of the tests are very simple (like just filling out a questionnaire or doing a short interview) and some may take a few hours. I will let you know ahead of time so you can decide if you want to do that type of test.
Do I give you the test results afterward?
No, unfortunately, I cannot tell you the result of the test.

Because these tests are in the research phase, that means that the results may not be accurate or a true reflection of your functioning.
Are there any negative side effects?
It is possible that you may be quite tired from the effort, depending on how complex/long the test is.

Also, some people may feel frustrated if they find the test difficult. Of course, if at any time you want to stop, we will stop.
Where does this take place?
In most cases, the testing happens in-person.

Testing can take place in my Mooresville office or it can also occur at a local facility (school, skilled nursing facility, daycare, residential care) in the Lake Norman/northern Charlotte area if that is more convenient.
What is the process?
If you are interested (for yourself or for your child), please fill out the interest form (linked below) with some basic information and then I will get in touch with you for a very short (up to 10 minutes) conversation.

I will add you to the Pearson database and then have you sign an informed consent that Pearson will keep on file (a new consent needs to be signed every year).
When your demographics fit Pearson's current need, I will reach out to you to explain the study and what it involves. If you want to move forward (for you or your child), then we will schedule time for the test.
Where can I learn more about Pearson Assessments and this ongoing research?
Current Needs!
Please keep in mind that even though these are current needs, the need for participants of all ages and all demographics is ongoing at all times, so even if you don't meet the below criteria, you should still fill out the Research Interest Form because you may be needed for the next project.

Wechsler Intelligence Scale-6 (WISC-6)
WISC-6 is going to be the next version of this gold-standard testing tool for children's intellectual functioning. Participants will sit with Dr. Dug for up to 2 hours and go through a series of questions and exercises that may involve general knowledge questions, puzzles, and pictures. Some of the exercises will be timed.
Although there is a need for children (aged 6-16) with all demographics, there is an especially strong need for:
- 6-16-year-olds who are ethnically/racially-diverse and/or come from lower education homes
- 6-16-year-olds who have a clinical diagnosis such as mild-moderate intellectual disability, traumatic brain injury, motor impairment, and receptive/expressive disorders
- Pay ranges from $100-$200
*Payment is in the form of a Visa gift card.

Vineland-4
Vineland-4 is going to be the next version of this well-known assessment of adaptive functioning. This assessment involves an interview that lasts 40-120 minutes.
There is currently a strong need for:
- Caregivers of children from birth through age 3, including both typically developing children and children with developmental, medical, or genetic diagnoses.
- Adults between the ages of 40 and 65 who have been diagnosed with Autism or ADHD.
- Pay for caregivers ranges from $50-$150, pay for those with caregivers ranges from $10-$25, and the pay for independent adults is $100
*Payment is in the form of a Visa gift card.
